Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose a lane?
Choose the area that feels most unresolved right now. If nothing stands out, choose the one you’ve been avoiding. You can change lanes next week (or anytime from Settings).
Do I need an account?
No. You can use OneLane without creating an account. Your data is stored on your device and can be backed up via your iCloud account if enabled.
Is my journal private?
Your journal entries and lane notes are stored on your device and, if iCloud is enabled, in your iCloud account. OneLane does not operate servers for storing your journal data. If you opt into AI personalization, only limited recent Lane Notes context is sent for processing. See the Privacy Policy for details.
What does “That’s enough for today” mean?
OneLane is designed to reduce overwhelm. When you complete your one step, the app intentionally ends the loop so you can stop instead of spiraling into more tasks.
How do I change my lane?
Open OneLane → Settings → Change Lane. On your weekly reset day, you can also choose to keep your lane or shift.
What is AI personalization and what gets sent?
AI personalization is optional and off by default. If you turn it on, OneLane may send a rolling 3-day summary of your recent Lane Notes to OpenAI through a stateless proxy endpoint so future prompts and commitments feel more relevant. We do not send your name, email, Apple ID, device ID, or your full journal history. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
How do I configure a private LLM (e.g. LM Studio)?
In OneLane, open Configure LM Studio and set: Base URL to your LM Studio server (e.g. http://192.168.1.21:1234 — use your computer’s IP and the port LM Studio uses); Timeout (increase if the model responds slowly); Context Limit (lower if you see slowdowns or memory errors); and Model (tap Refresh Models if the list is empty). Use Test Connection to verify, then turn on Enable this service. On your computer, start the LM Studio server and enable “Serve on Local Network” if you’re on Wi‑Fi; for port, auth, and CORS, see LM Studio Serve on Local Network.
